Last month, I had the pleasure of painting this beautiful Guernsey cow for a client.
However I was concerned to make sure that the painting wasn’t too “warm” in tone. I was eager to try and counterbalance some of the warm shades with cooler blue tones wherever possible. Blue and orange are natural complements to each other so it made logical sense to place them in the same painting.
So for that reason I emphasised and imagined blues in the following areas as seen below.
The nose
The whites in the head
The reflections of sky in the eye
In the splashes
