New- 8 Week Art Course starts on the 26th April 2023

Updated: Mar 27, 2023

Weekly art classes for 8 weeks (2.5 hour sessions). Suitable for beginners and intermediates.

I'm excited to be offering some new weekly art classes from the 26th April at my studio in Arley, Worcestershire, UK.

Whether you are a complete beginner or at an intermediate stage of your art journey, then this 8 week course will take your practice to the next level. Although each lesson is structured, a sense of curiosity and play are key themes that run throughout the course as they are key to getting the maximum enjoyment during each session. They are also the best way to learn!

My courses are designed specifically with the student’s level of experience in mind and for this reason my approach if flexible and adaptable according to the group’s needs. Each lesson will contain step by step demonstrations that move at a steady and easy pace, allowing you the time and space to develop new skills in an encouraging environment.

Each class has a nature based theme and you will get the opportunity to draw and paint a wonderful array of animals over the term, from bumble bees to kingfishers from family pets to farmyard animals, as well as the depicting elements of their habitats, such as flowers, rivers and skies.

At the beginning of the term I will teach you how to see things as an artist does. We will start the course by learning the fundamental building blocks of art; depicting shape, tone and line initially in pencil and charcoal so that you will soon be able to draw any subject with accuracy.

Once you have confidence in this area, we will start to explore the unique qualities of watercolour: its transparency, immediacy and fluidity. Watercolour is an amazing medium that can be controlled tightly through precision brush work or let loose with abandon. You will get to experiment with a wide range of traditional and non traditional tools to see what the multitude of effects you are able to achieve

For the next part of the course, you will get to learn how to see and mix any colour of your choice by using a limited palette of colours in an exciting and dynamic way.

I’ll guide you through a multitude of techniques so that by the end of the 8 weeks you will have created a whole series of beautiful watercolour pieces with colours that pop! You will also get the chance to exhibit at Bewdley Museum this Christmas at our annual students’ Exhibition. This is a fabulous event and the chance to show friends and family what you’ve achieved during your time at the the Studios.

"I have never thought that I could create any art, painting, drawing or charcoal. I have been attending Sarah's class for a couple of years. She is such a brilliant teacher and a great artist. I'm so glad I have found her. Her classes are excellent. I keep coming back for more ;) I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn or improve their skills" Tunde Webster (Google Review 2023)
